The Horse Sense Way.

True horsemanship is rarely taught, but here at Horse Sense, that's where we start.

It all starts with ground work to build communication and connection while you learn to move your horse's body with simple, clear gestures and quick feet, thus gaining your horse's connection, mind, trust and respect.

Horses all speak the same language, so in the round pen we teach you to speak that language. Once clear and consistent communication is established, you will begin to understand more of your horse's personality and can begin to respect them as individuals who need flexibility in their training.

Part of true horsemanship is dealing with problem behaviors. Bucking, biting, kicking, bolting are all meaningful in horse language. So, together we work to find the root of the problem, address human errors and correct the behavior.

After four Natural Horsemanship Classes you are ready to move on to our Natural Riding Class, where we focus on building that communication and connection into a mounted partnership. Our original Natural Riding method is developed to deepen that connection with close physical contact and comfortable freedom for the horses' bodies. We ride bitless and on close contact bareback pads with no stirrups - a physically demanding, yet incredibly rewarding way to ride. Even while riding, horsemanship is our focus - ensuring happy horses for many rides to come!

We are Horse Sense Natural Horsemanship trainers, Becca, Kenna and Shannon Black. We help people understand that horses are not tools, but complex, emotional animals who deserve to have a say in how they're trained. We are the only natural riding trainers in the nation - all of our riding is done bitless and on bareback pads to free the horse's body so that the mind is fully connected.

We believe we've been misled by centuries of "traditional" horse training methods, which perpetuate the use of horses for human pleasure without much consideration for the horse. As a whole, horse society has continued to lean on rude crutches of "horsemanship" - such as bits, back-restricting saddles and spurs. Our approach as a horse trainers is based in forming an absolutely solid foundation of mutual trust and respect; using fair treatment, flexible methods, clear/consistent communication and firm correction - all coming from a loving heart.

We offer natural horsemanship classes, clinics and seminar, horseback riding lessons, natural riding, homeschool classes, group horsemanship classes, group leadership classes, camp outs, summer camp, home school field trip days and more!

Hey, Oklahoma home school families, Horse Sense is an Epic Charter School vendor - let the learning fund pay for your child's experience!
