NATURAL HORSEMANSHIP CLASS Ages 8 - Ancient Class Length: 1 hour Available Class Times: TBA True horsemanship is rarely taught, but here at Horse Sense, that's where we start. It all starts with ground work to build communication and connection while you learn to move your horse's body with simple, clear gestures and quick feet, thus gaining your horse's connection, mind, trust and respect. Horses all speak the same language, so in the round pen we teach you to speak that language. Once clear and consistent communication is established, you will begin to understand more of your horse's personality and can begin to respect them as individuals who need flexibility in their training. Part of true horsemanship is dealing with problem behaviors. Bucking, biting, kicking, bolting are all meaningful in horse language. So, together we work to find the root of the problem, address human errors and correct the behavior. This class also covers hoof care, understanding our choice of natural tack, basic anatomy and terminology. Once you have completed 4 Natural Horsemanship Classes you are ready to move on to our Natural Riding Class! |
NATURAL RIDING CLASS Ages 8 - Ancient Class Length: 90 Mins Available Class Times: TBA In order to take this class you must first complete a minimum of 4 Natural Horsemanship Classes. This class focuses on building the communication and connection skills students learned in Natural Horsemanship Class into mounted partnerships. Our original Natural Riding method is developed to deepen that connection with close physical contact and comfortable freedom for the horses' bodies. We ride bitless and on close contact bareback pads with no stirrups - a physically demanding, yet incredibly rewarding way to ride. Even while riding, horsemanship is our focus - ensuring happy horses for many rides to come! Learn to have a working partnership with the horse you are riding to make it enjoyable for both of you. This is an incredibly challenging and rewarding way of riding that will improve your balance, strength, stamina and confidence. Riding ranges from beginners taking their first ride, to students learning to cross country jump, to easy or challenging trail rides. Students will be pushed to improve their riding seats, become better leaders from horseback, face riding challenges and move up in gait. |
